Celia James - Faces of Senior Care

"Sometimes you have 10 to 15 patients to get ready in the morning. It would be nice if your could spend more time with them." - Celia James

Celia James works at the Carewest Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre on the dialysis unit, helping seniors with their daily tasks.
“I love people, I love working with people, I love seeing the smiles on their faces when you dress them and they feel good about themselves."

Daily Routine

Celia helps patients do tasks they might not be able to do themselves, helping the seniors to feel at home.

This includes brushing their teeth, cleaning up their rooms and helping them go to the bathroom.

Keeping Records

At assisted living centers, caregivers need to keep track of patients' health and condition to ensure that their needs are being met.

Not all caregivers are medical professionals, so nurses and doctors must be made aware of changes with their patients.

Staffing Woes

Many care facilities have caregivers who look after many patients.

Celia says that while she helps provide seniors with much needed services there are some patients in assisted living who still need of more attention due to a lack of staff.
